Publications Division , Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is among the premier publishing organisations of the Government of India. Established in 1941, Publications Division is a repository of books and journals highlighting subjects of national importance and India’s rich cultural heritage. The mandate of the organisation is to preserve national heritage and disseminate the same through the production and sale of quality reading material at affordable prices. Division publishes books in printed and electronic formats in Hindi, English and other regional languages and marketing them through its nation-wide sales network and major e-retailing platforms. It participates in important book fairs in India and abroad.

Publications Division is preserving and presenting diverse aspects of Indian panorama. The organisation is one of the major publishers of Gandhian Literature and has preserved all written words of the Mahatma in its prestigious 100-volume series-the Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi. The work is available in digital formats, in DVD and pen drive. Its books on art, culture, Buddhist literature, paintings, dance and music are sought after by experts in respective fields. Its publications on Indian History and Freedom struggle, national and cultural leaders are considered valuable reading material for serious scholar of Indian history and culture. A Digital Archive has been created in-house with over one thousand digitally converted books brought out by Division since inception.

The tradition of publishing quality books on diverse areas has been continuing since last seven decades. The forward march of India in science and technology, flora and fauna, geographical, sociological, literary and economic aspects keep finding expression in the Division’s books.

Publications Division is also publishing magazines and journals on various aspects of Indian life. Yojana, with its 13 language editions, is the flagship magazine on development-related issues. Kurukshetra, in English and Hindi, is devoted to rural development. Ajkal, in Hindi and Urdu, is a prestigious literary magazine. Bal Bharati is a popular children’s magazine in Hindi. Employment News, in English, Hindi and Urdu, is a weekly dedicated to providing valuable and authentic information on jobs in central government, including the public sector and select private sector companies. Employment News is also available in digital format (e-Employment News).
